Intelligence and Creativity

This was an odd assignment for me. I've always attributed intelligence and creativity with being one in the same.

To me, being creative means using your intelligence to somehow improve something, or create something entirely new. Without intelligence, how will you accomplish any of that?

For so long I've heard my teachers and professors tell me that in order to create, I must know what's already been created. I must have a general understanding of the things that surround me and the stories that have been told in order to create something of substance. That understanding comes directly from intelligence.

Artists are generally regarded to be fairly creative people--I'm pretty sure it's in the job description. Artists are also quite well known for stealing. Stealing from other great artists or from experiences to create something beautiful and new. Without the intelligence to read books and see films, we would not know what to steal--we would not know how to weave our vision with someone else's.

I know this has been a short blog, and for that I apologize. I will, however, leave you with something very creative and intelligent--and something that I've watched about one hundred times:
